Carillion lands FM contract for London premises of Department for Culture, Media & Sport

3 March, 2010

Carillion has begun to deliver a range of facilities services at the Department for Culture, Media & Sport’s (DCMS) central London locations in an initial five-year deal worth around £5m.

The FM provider was awarded the DCMS contract at the end of 2009 following a tender process through the OGC Buying Solutions framework.

The ‘total FM service’ for the contract spans M&E and fabric maintenance, cleaning, security, reception, grounds maintenance, pest and waste management.

Commenting on the newly-mobilised contract, Richard Sykes, managing director of Carillion Service Solutions, said: “We feel especially fortunate to have the opportunity to work with this particular Department over the duration of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Not only will this be an extremely exciting period for sporting and cultural life for London as well as for the whole nation, but, with DCMS holding a unique strategic position, we are thrilled for the opportunity to be able to contribute to many successful outcomes for them in the run up to 2010, during the event and beyond.”

Established in 1997, the Department of Culture Media & Sport is responsible for Government policy on the arts, sport, the National Lottery, tourism, libraries, museums and galleries, broadcasting, creative industries including film and the music industry, press freedom and regulation, licensing, gambling and the historic environment. The Department is responsible for the listing of historic buildings and scheduling of ancient monuments, the export licensing of cultural goods, the management of the Government Art Collection and for the Royal Parks Agency and, last but certainly not least, it has responsibility for 2012 Olympic Games & Paralympic Games.

The contract adds to Carillion’s portfolio of central government customers which presently includes the Ministry of Defence, the Forensic Science Service and the Health & Safety Executive.
